Hands on Wireless WEP Cracking
From ChekMate Security Group
Introducing the basics to cracking wireless networks using WEP
ChekMate will be hosting its first training session where we will be attempting to break into a 64 bit WEP encryption wireless network.
- AirSnort and Airocrack will be our primary tools but members are welcome to use any other tools to accomplish the task of breaking the 64 bit encryption.
- The Calgary Police Services/RCMP will be presenting the legal issues with wireless networks
- Open discussion about the different methods on how to secure a wireless network.
Please note that these tools work only with specific wireless cards and that some members may experience issues with their network cards. Please review the WLAN Chipset directory from Wireless Security to see if your card will work properly. It is recommended that your card be either a Prism2/2 5/3 or Orinoco chipset, although other wireless cards may work also.
Even if your wireless card will not work with these tools or if you do not have a wireless card you are still welcome to participate at this training session as there will be a good value of information being presented that will benefit each of us.
Please keep in mind that not everyone is going to be an expert, and not everyone is going to be a beginner, but that the main goal is to help share the knowledge to further everyone’s skill set.
